Specialty Soya & Grains Alliance
In early January, DF Seeds was honored to participate in the inaugural Identity Preserved (IP) International Summit presented by the Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance (SSGA). This first-of-its-kind event brought together more than 50 foreign buyers traveling from South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Nepal and India for in-depth discussions and networking, along with presentations on supply and demand, shipping and transportation, crop conditions and availability and more.
DF Seeds President, Janna Fritz, presented in a session titled The Future of Seed. For seed companies to advance the right varieties into commercial production, communication from end users and exporters is needed earlier to identify the best characteristics of the soybeans intended for production. The rich discussion included: desired protein content, hilum color and yield potential.
DF Seeds, a Legacy Agripartners brand, is rooted in IP Soybeans. We collaborate with Michigan Ag Commodities (MAC) and Zeeland Farm Services (ZFS) to export specialty IP soybeans to the world. MAC and ZFS were also sponsors and participants of this excellent SSGA event.
Michigan farmers shared their voice at the conference to tell the story of how they grow IP soybeans and why these specialty markets are important to their farms. Participating Farmers included Scott Wilson and Mark Senk, both leaders on the Michigan Soybean Committee Board of Directors.
DF Seeds is appreciative for the opportunity to represent the IP soybean industry, interact with international buyers and domestic exporters to help fulfill our role of providing seed for these growing markets.
It all starts with seed.
