Excessive Heat Returns to the Plains
By DF Seeds | June 22, 2023
In the 6 to 10-day forecast, excessive heat returns to the south-central U.S. and will put additional stress on crops and animals in the region. Forecasters are concerned that the high will shift to the central portion of the country, creating excessive heat stress during the critical corn pollination period. Storm systems are expected to roll through the Dakotas and over the high before dropping down over the Eastern Seaboard with rains missing the Corn Belt. Relief may come from tropical storms moving across the Atlantic if they are strong enough to push the high further west. This brings another set of problems for those impacted on the Coast.
